Seven-Star Park

Seven-star Park is located in the urban area of Guilin City and on the east bank of Li River, through which Xiaodong River is passing. The park covers an area of over 100 hectares and was named after the tale that the seven peaks of Mountain Qixing were the seven stars in the north sky falling down to the earth. Boasting hills, rivers, caves and rocks all together, the "Seven-star Peaks", "Morning of Camel Hill", "Crescent Rainbow Shadow" and "Putuo Stone Forest" are the symbolic scenes in the park. The park has famous spots like Seven-star Peak, Longyin Cave, Crescent Stone, Zenggong Stone, Camel Hill, Longyin Stone, Flower Bridge, Crescent Tower, Light of China Square, Children's Amusement Park, Zoo, 3 Generals and 800 Warriors' Tomb, Mosque, Potted Scenery and Gui Hai Bei Lin. Seven-star Park is the largest comprehensive park with the longest history and the most tourists in Guilin.

 

 

Brocade Hill

The Folded Brocade Hill lies in the Northeast of Guilin, facing the Li River. The Brocade Hill, the DuXiu Peak and the FuBo Hill Stand like the three legs of a tripod. All these three hills are the famous tourist attractions of Guilin. The Folded Brocade Hill covers an area of approximately 2 square kilometers. It consists of the Moon Peak, the Red-crowned Crane Peak, the Siwang Hill and the Yuyue Hill. Spanning the Guilin City, the Brocade Hill is very picturesque and easy to climb, and has become a hot scenic spot among the hills in Guilin. There are a lot of tourist attractions in the hill, such as the Folded Brocade Pavilion, the Yuyue Pavilion, the Chengren Tablet of Masters Qu and Zhang, the Yangzhi Hall, the Wind Cave, the Brocade Building, the Wangjiang Pavilion and the Nayun Pavilion, etc. on the hill are many cliff inscriptions of celebrities in different dynasties, which are the cream of the antiques. If you climb up the Moon Peak and stand in the Nayun Pavilion, you will get a bird's-eye view of the whole city.

Elephant-trunk Hill

Elephant-trunk Hill is also called Elephant Hill, which stands majestically at the confluence of the Li River and Taohua River. The green water of Li River in front of it and the clear spring at the foot made the Elephant Hill one of the most famous hills in Guilin City. It is deemed as the symbol of Guilin. The Elephant Hill has Shuiyue Cave, Elephant's Eye Stone, Pagoda for Samantabhadra, Yunfeng Temple ant Taiping Tian Guo Revolutionary Relics Exhibition Hall. A pagoda containing the only Sheli of Kaiyuan Temple in Sui and Tang dynasties is near the park. Shuiyue Cave is at the riverside with water of Li River flowing through. It looks like a moon on the river. The stone looks like a trunk of an elephant drinking water. With a fabulous scenic view, the Elephant-trunk Hill is an outstanding tourist attraction even in early Tang and Song dynasties.

Li River

Li River is the soul of Guilin scenery. It is the river of poems and paintings. The region covers 83-km karst area with clear, exotic, ingenious and changing characteristics. Take a boat a boat and enjoy yourself with the wonderful scenery of peeks, rivers, sunshine and reflections on the water. Guilin is a fairyland in the world with "Fascinating Views of Three Hills", "Nine Horses in Picture Hill", "Places of Interest in Xingping" and "Green-Lotus World" etc. Traveling on Li River is indeed a wonderful experience, enjoyment and exploration, because it is always like an endless beautiful sonata of hills and waters.

Fubo Hill

Rising from the ground, Fubo Hill slopes into the Li River in the east and looms in the west over the ground. Waves run back wherever they meet the blocks thus it gets the name. A tale also has it that Ma Yuan, called General Fubo, of the Han Dynasty had once passed by Guilin on a southern expedition. He poured all the pearls he carried into the river, so the hill was named after him in his memory, and there used to be a Fubo Pavilion on the hill in Tang Dynasty.
 

Now, it still has a lot of places of interest, such as Kuishui Ting (Kui Stream Pavilion), Tingtao Pavilion (Listening to Waves), Banshan Ting (Half the Hill Pavilion), Huanzhu Cave (Returning the Pearl). Shijian Stone (Testing Sword), Qianfo Cave (Thousand-Buddha Cave) and Coral Cave. There is also a pot which is said to be big enough to cook for one thousand people and a cast iron bell, which was built by the daughter of Prince Ding Nan of Qing Dynasty named Kong Youde as a memorial of him.
The Shijian Stone (Testing Sword Stone) in the Returning Pearl Cave which is closely attached to Li River is a giant stone, hanging from the ceiling of the cave with only a few inches to the ground. It seems that its top and the ground was suddenly separated as a result of General Fubo's sword testing and it remains a wonder as well. In Returning Pearl Cave and Qianfo Cave, there are many stone slabs and Buddha images carved in relief in Tang and Song Dynasties. So it is known as 'the Fascinating Place of Fubo Mountain'.

 

Reed Flute Cave

Reed Flute Cave is located on the southern shoulder of Guangming Hill, 4 miles northwest of the city. The cave is 788 feet deep and one third of a mile long. Reed Flute Cave is a marvelous limestone cave containing a large number of colorful and imposing stalactites, stalagmites, rocky curtains, and cave corals. It is a favorite destination for both the visitors and locals of Guilin.

Yangshuo

65 km to the southeast of Guilin is a beautiful mountain town named Yangshuo. Surrounded by 18 peaks, the city looks like a lotus flower in full bloom. This little town is renown for its tranquil countryside scenery where visitors get a chance to soak up the area's beautiful landscapes, lush green farmlands and rice paddies, and warm, friendly natives. Besides getting a large dose of back-to-nature experience, Yangshuo sports a quaint and charming western-inspired artisan village on West Street, lined with art galleries restaurants and cafe's. An enchanting evening at this little artsy village is guaranteed. Nearby attractions include Moon Hill and Big Banyan Tree.

Longsheng

Longsheng is located approximately 50 miles northwest of Guilin, which is roughly a two-and-a-half-hour drive. This small town is renowned for its magnificent Dragon Rice Terraces, minority villages and idyllic landscape setting where visitors often find themselves in awe upon arriving in Longsheng. The Longji (Dragon Spine) Terrace began its construction in the Yuan Dynasty and was completed in early Qing Dynasty, a history of 650 years. The rolling mountains are sculptured with tightly packed terraces on the precipitous slopes, extending for hundreds of miles. All year round, the terraces present different beauty in different seasons.

Merryland

The Merryland World Entertainment Center is the largest in Guanxi province. It features a full-size Disney World like theme park, an American-style 18-hole championship golf course, and a five-star holiday resort.  Within the amusement park, There are five sections: Merry town, American western, Dream world, Pirate village, South pacific area and Forest area with costumes, food, sights, shows and entertainment facilities having its own theme. Not only is the theme park great fun for kids, it is also a splendid education experience as they get a glimpse of the different ethnic backgrounds while entering a "time tunnel.

Outside of the theme park lies the only world-class American-style hilly golf course dotted with 18 holes. Golden Louise, a prominent American golf-course designer, helped design the links in combination with the picturesque scenery of Guilin. It is of US PGA standard and was opened to the public in 2000, covering an area of 73.7 hectares with 7,073 yards of fairway.  The Par 72 Merryland Golf Course has been completed with hilly golf ways form No.1 to 9 and valley ways from No.14 to 18. The golf course preserves wide and irresistible views, offering golfers a variety of unique technical and physical challenges.
