Laem Chabang Golf & Country Club
This picturesque Jack Nicklaus designed
championship course is truly one of Thailand's finest. The
27-hole-Mountain, Lake and Creek nines Laem Chabang International
Country Club is located in Sri Racha, approximately two hours away from
Bangkok and is well worth the visit. The rolling hills of the
surrounding countryside have been used to great effect, and hazards to
stop you reaching the large elevated greens are in abundance. Not only
does the course have a lot of bunkers, sand traps and water hazards,
there is also a lot of natural hazards in the shape of exposed rock
formations, lakes, ponds and creeks. Excellent clubhouse facilities and
accommodation superbly complement all of this.
This handiwork of golf guru is widely hailed by
critics for a unique feature - its beautifully mixed terrain of majestic
mountains, beautiful lakes and lush valleys which are lovely as well as
functional. Each type of terrain corresponds to a 9-hole course in a
peculiar way, and as such one is named Mountain, Lake and Valley. The
large, undulating greens are mostly elevated and protected by wide
bunkers. Truly a course with a difference. |

Khao Kheow
Golf & Country Club
This 27-hole golf course is situated along route
36 heading towards Pattaya and takes about 80 minutes to reach from
central Bangkok. Like so many of the Eastern Seaboard’s courses the Khao
Kheow country club catches a strong sea breeze thus players have to plan
their shots carefully on account of the numerous large pond, bunkers and
hills that surround the greens and fairways.
Designed to championship specification this is
nothing short of a serious challenge. Accurate shot making is essential
to avoid severe bunkering and hazards. Many palm trees create a desert
effect together with a prevailing wind. Water is a strong feature too,
the 17th par 3 presenting the characteristic Dye signature island green.
A splendid world class course.
The first 18 have been designed with a stadium championship course,
while the back 18 are definitely more geared towards a resort course.
Those daring enough to do the whole lot in one day can look forward to
relaxing at the lush clubhouse afterwards, which incorporates a sports
club, swimming pools, hotel accommodation and tennis courts in its
design. |

Sri Racha Internation
Golf Club
Designed by Gary Player, the Sri Racha
International Golf Club is an excellent resort-style course. Located
on the hilly country in Sriracha, players can enjoy the holes with
the up and down fairways laid out on the hill. This is a relatively
easy course and good practice for the beginner. This course is
constantly kept in perfect condition. Twice home of the Thai Open.
The course's rather unique signature hole is a par three over a
crocodile pit.
The expansive layout gives the golfer plenty of room and freedom,
offering many water holes, dunes and bunkers, dog-legs and
challenging greens. New management recently upgraded course and
facilities. |

St. Andrews 2000
Working with a spectacular, undulating natural
topography, St. Andrews 2000 was built to replicate the wind-swept
Scottish links courses, offering an uncompromising challenge aimed at
players with handicaps of 18 or lower.
Opened at the dawn of the Pacific Century, his
pristine example of a unique layout seeks to acquire a reputation equal
to the finest links courses in the world. The links feel throughout this
parkland course makes this different from many other courses in the
area. Golf enthusiasts expect this course will soon become the
number one championship course in all of Asia.
Desmond Muirhead created a full 18 holes, 74
par of memorable golf, featuring elevated tees and greens, tight landing
zones, and split elevation fairways. This course has two par six
holes; the 4th measures 855 yards from the championship tees, and the
13th, which is 857 yards. A good caddy on this course can save you many
shots and balls, so listen to her for your line. |

Burapha Golf Club
Originally built in 1958 the course and
facilities were updated in 1988 as a joint venture between the Tourism
Authority of Thailand and Japan Golf Professional Incorporated. Laid out
over undulating land in a gently sloping valley surrounded by densely
wooded hissl, with well kept fairways and true greens set amongst
tropical flora makes Bangpra one of Pattaya's prettiest courses. A
luxurious modern clubhouse comes lavishly furnished with locker rooms
featuring japanese style baths. Bangpra provides a challenging as well
as highly scenic test of golf. |
