This fascinating land of contrasts, an engaging combination of futuristic cities, ancient culture and stunning natural landscapes. Its contrasts between the old and the new, the traditional and modern, East and West, have lured millions the world over to this mystifying kingdom. Our Japan Unescorted program is an exciting and totally different concept designed for travelers who want to experience the best of Japan at their own pace.  Your tour includes a Japan Travel Aid (guide) on your first day in Tokyo to help you tailor-make your very own Japan expedition as well as to teach you all there is to know about traveling on your own in Japan.

TOUR ITINERARY:

Day 1. Depart North America

Fly via All Nippon Airways. Cross the International Dateline.

Day 2. Arrive Tokyo

Upon arrival, proceed to SHIBA PARK HOTEL by airport limousine bus for next three nights accommodation.

Day 3. Tokyo

Meet your Japan guide for an orientation and walking tour by subway, learning how to explore and enjoy Tokyo unescorted. Lunch at a local restaurant. (L)

Day 4. Tokyo

You are free to explore this fascinating cosmopolitan city on your own.

Day 5. Tokyo / Hiroshima

Board a bullet train to Hiroshima, where you will be accommodated at the HOTEL SUNROUTE HIROSHIMA for the next two nights.

Day 6. Hiroshima

An excursion to Miyajima to visit the Itsukushima Jinja Shrine and its "floating" torii gate is highly recommended.

Day 7. Hiroshima / Beppu

Travel by train to Beppu, Japan's hotspring capital. Overnight accommodation at SUGINOI HOTEL HANA.

Day 8. Beppu / Kyoto

Travel by rail to Kyoto, ancient capital of Japan and the cradle of Japanese culture. Your accommodation for the next two nights is the NEW MIYAKO HOTEL, just across the street from the train station.

Day 9. Kyoto

Steeped in history and tradition, there are over 2000 temples and shrines as well as nearby Nara for you to explore.

Day 10. Return Home

Transfer to the Airport by airport limousine bus for your flight home.
