ITINERARY:

Day 1. Luang Prabang

Upon arrival from Bangkok, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.  Enjoy a half-day tour around the UNESCO World Heritage town of Luang Prabang.  Enjoy visits to Wat Visoun, Wat Phu Sii, Wat Mai, and the National Museum.  Lunch will be served at a local restaurant.  Spend rest of the day exploring on your own. Overnight at the GRAND LUANG PRABANG HOTEL. (L)

Day 2. Luang Prabang

Today, you will take the Mekong Riverboat trip to visit the Pak Ou Buddha Caves, located in the steep rock cliff at the confluence of the Mekong River and Ou River, filled with Buddha images of varying styles, ages and sizes. Enjoy a picnic lunch en route followed by several cultural and scenic visits before returning to the hotel.  (B,L)

Day 3. Luang Prabang / Vientiane / Nong Khai

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Vientiane.  Upon arrival, you will enjoy a city tour to Wat Sisaket, renown for its 2000 silver and ceramic images.  After lunch at a local restaurant, visit the That Luang monument, Vientiane’s own Victory Monument, Wat Simuang and Wat Prakeo.  Then drive to cross border to Thailand.  Continue to Nong Khai for overnight and dinner. Accommodations at the NONG KHAI GRAND HOTEL. (B,L,D)

 Day 4. Nakorn Phanom

Begin the day's tour by car to Phu Phra Bhat, a park with an interesting collection of prehistoric caves, unusual geological rock formations, cave paintings and Buddhist Shrines, followed by a visit to Wat Kaek.  Then drive to Ban Chiang and have lunch at a local restaurant.  Continue to Kud Na Kham craft center, Chaiburi and Si Songkram River.  Take the riverboats for a ride to the mouth of the river.  En route, stop to see some of the fish farms.  Continue to Nakorn Phanom for overnight and dinner. Accommodations at the NAKORN PHANOM RIVERVIEW HOTEL. (B,L,D)

Day 5.  Nakorn Phanom / Mukdaharn

Before breakfast, take part in “Tak Baht”, a traditional merit making in the local style.  Return to hotel for breakfast.  This morning, you will explore the Nakorn Phanom town center.  Walk down the riverfront to the Indochina market.  Then explore other sites, including the century-old city hall, Ho Chi Minh’s house.  Lunch will be served in a local restaurant.  In the afternoon, visit the Thad Phanom Temple.  Continue to Ban Nong Hoi Yai.  Overnight and dinner in Mukdaharn. Accommodations at the PLOY PALACE HOTEL. (B,L,D)

Day 6:  Ban Panna / Khong Jiam

Walk through Indo-China Market and then continue to Ban Panna.  Browse the local market in Ban Panna.  Lunch will be taken aboard a floating “raft restaurant” at Khong Jiam.  In the afternoon, you will visit the Pha Taem National/Historical Park.  Then drive down to Ban Goom with a ride on Mekong riverboat to your resort. Overnight at the TOHSANG RESORT. (B,L)

Day 7: Khong Jiam / Ubon Ratchathani

Drive to Cambodian Border.  Visit Khao Phra Viharn Khmer temple and Maw-I-Daeng cliff carvings.  Lunch will be in Kantaralak.  In the afternoon, explore a number of city sites in Ubon, and the National Museum #8.  Transfer to the airport for your flight to Bangkok. (B,L)
