This land module features a memorable excursion to China's most modern and vibrant metropolis, followed by enchanting visits to Shanghai's scenic countryside.

Shanghai is an ultra-modern, yet one of the most historically significant cities in China. It is a world-renown shopping, gourmet and entertainment paradise that has the world at your fingertips. Our tour includes excursions to The Bund, an emblem of Shanghai, with a riverfront promenade along the eastern side offering a captivating view of city's skyline; Yu Yuan Garden, a majestic classical garden inspired by the Ming and Qing Dynasties; and the Jade Buddha Temple, the home of a mesmerizing jade statue of Sakyamuni from Myanmar.

Next, we embark an overland excursion to Zhujiajiao, situated in the middle between Shanghai and Suzhou, it is an old town where beautiful rivers and lakes abound. With lakes on four sides, the beauty of Zhujiajiao is accented by its abundance of waterside lanes and ancient stone bridges. We then proceed to Suzhou, an ancient cultural city built 2,500 years ago located along the side of Lake Taihu. Many private gardens were built during and after the Song Dynasty, making the city famous for its centuries-old classical gardens. Streets and alleys in Suzhou run parallel to centuries-old canals, where small bridges and flowing waters, white walls and dark gray roof tiles match one another in tranquil elegance.

TOUR ITINERARY:

Day 1. Upon arrival in Shanghai, transfer to  Renaissance Yuyuan Hotel (Superior)  Swissotel Grand Shanghai (Deluxe)

Day 2. A full day tour visiting the Old Town, Yu Yuan garden, Shanghai Museum, Jade Buddha Temple and the Bund. In the evening, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant followed by an acrobatics performance. (B,L,D)

Day 3. Travel by car to Suzhou. Enroute, visit the ancient water town of Zhu Jia Jiao where you will find remarkably well preserved bridges dating back to the 11th century. An afternoon tour of Suzhou includes the Garden of Harmony, Hanshan Temple and the National Embroidery Institute. Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight at Nanlin Hotel (Superior) OR Sofitel Suzhou Hotel (Deluxe). (B,L,D)
