the home of a mesmerizing jade statue of Sakyamuni from Myanmar.
Next, we embark an overland excursion
to Zhujiajiao, situated in the middle between Shanghai and
Suzhou, it is an old town where beautiful rivers and
lakes abound. With lakes on four sides, the beauty of
Zhujiajiao
is accented by its abundance of
waterside lanes and ancient stone
bridges. We then proceed to
Suzhou,
an ancient cultural city built 2,500 years ago located along the side
of Lake Taihu. Many private gardens were built
during and after the Song Dynasty, making the city famous for its
centuries-old classical gardens. Streets and
alleys in Suzhou run parallel to centuries-old canals, where small bridges
and flowing waters, white walls and dark gray roof tiles match one
another in tranquil elegance.
