Your introduction to Vietnam begins
with
Ho Chi Minh City, forever
known as Saigon and the "Paris of the East". In recent
years, Ho Chi Minh City has rapidly become one of Asia's
hottest spots, featuring Vietnam's best cuisines, a bustling
nightlife and accommodations. Journey
southwest to the Mekong Delta region. Visit the Mekong River islands with their "monkey bridges", or makeshift footbridges
built of uneven logs above the canals; followed by Can Tho, an
important commercial center and river port of the Mekong that boasts
a colorful floating market and ancient architectures.
Next, a short flight from Saigon will
take you to Da Nang,
infamous for its Cham Museum, the Marble
Mountains and China Beach. Your next stop is Hoi
An, one of Southeast Asia's most important ports for many
centuries. Today, Hoi
An is unsurpassed for its charm and has blossomed into an artists'
colony and home to numerous well-preserved ancient buildings like no
other town in Vietnam. Travel along the picturesque Hai Van
pass onto Hue, an imperial city that was
the cultural and intellectual center of Vietnam for centuries.
Your journey continues in
Hanoi,
Vietnam's capital, a city of lakes,
shaded boulevards and public parks. With narrow alleyways lined with
shop-houses selling traditional handicrafts and arts, the old center
is an enchanting place to wander.
Embark on a
private chartered wooden boat for a memorable trip to Ha Long Bay.
View the magnificent limestone cliffs and stunning sceneries while
having a seafood lunch on board.
Next, board
the Victoria Express train to SaPa. Visit the colorful Coc Ly
market to watch the local ethnic minorities trade their goods
and socialize. Journey downstream by boat on the Chay River to
enjoy the magnificent view of Sapa and have a picnic lunch en
route. Trek around the Ta Van area and visit the homes of the
H'Mong and Dzay villages.
