TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1. Arrive Bali
Upon arrival in Bali, transfer to your resort in Bali.

Day 2. Bali (Ubud)
Today’s tour showcases Bali’s natural, cultural, and artistic aspects for which this exotic island is famous. Beginning with a stop at the village of Batubulan, we attend a cultural performance of Barong and Keris Dance, which depicts the story of the eternal battle between the good and the evil. Proceed to the artisan villages of Celuk, Mas and Ubud, known as the center of Balinese gold and silver jeweler industry, wood carvings and art paintings respectively. Drive up through rural villages and vast area of beautifully terraced rice fields in Tegal Lalang and drive by hundreds of village temples before a visit is made at the 17th century holy-spring Gunung Kawi temple at Sebatu. Enjoy a cool break at the mountain village of Kintamani with its cool breeze and breathtaking vista of the still-active Mount Batur and its crater-lake. On the way back, visit the Elephant Cave at Bedulu, and be amazed by this ancient holy sight – a former hermitage for Buddhist monks, who used to meditate in small rooms deep inside the cave. The last stop today is at the “monkey forest” to see Ubud’s cheekiest inhabitants – the macaque monkeys! Groups of these fascinating monkeys live in the shaded forest, where they roam freely, jumping from tree to tree. End to day and watch the sun-set while enjoying a seafood barbecue at a beachfront restaurant in beautiful Jimbaran Bay. (B,L,D)

Day 3. Bali
Full day at leisure in Paradise to relax and explore beautiful Bali on your own. (B)

Day 4. Bali / Yogyakarta
Fly to Yogyakarta. Upon arrival, be met and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy a brief city tour before enjoying the balance of your afternoon at leisure. (B)

Day 5. Yogyakarta
Begin your tour of Yogyakarta with a visit to the Sultan’s Palace, which is also known as the Kraton. The innermost group of buildings (where the sultan still resides) were built in 1755.  Afterward, visit the city district of Kota Gede. Famed for its silver crafting, there will be time to witness a demonstration of this ancient skill at a local workshop as well as delve into the backstreets of this historic neighborhood where more craft showrooms and interesting buildings await. After lunch, head approximately 40km out of Yogyakarta to the stunning temple complex at Borobudur, one of South East Asia’s most impressive sites and the largest single Buddhist monument in the world. Receiving UNESCO World Heritage status in 1991, the monument consists of six square terraces topped by three circular ones. Two million stone blocks were required to build the temple and with at least 2,500 relief panels and more than 500 Buddha statues, it is exquisite beyond comparison. Ample time will be dedicated to exploring this incredible Buddhist structure before heading back to the city. Includes lunch at a local restaurant. (B,L)

Day 6. Yogyakarta / Surabaya / Bromo
Transfer for your flight to Surabaya. Upon arrival, be met and proceed by road to Wonotoro, a small village 2,000 metres above sea level and the gateway to spectacular Mount Bromo. Check in at your resort where dinner is served. (B,D)

Day 7. Bromo / Surabaya
With its huge crater and almost mystical-like scenery in all directions, Mount Bromo and its surrounds are stunning beyond question. Sunrise is the most magical time to view the entire Bromo landscape but this does involve a very early morning start of 3am as you travel by private jeep to the rim of Mount Penanjakan in time for dawn. After witnessing a spectacular sunrise (weather permitting), you will return to your jeep and make the steep descent back down to the bottom of the volcano and then cross the Laotian Pasir (Sand Sea) to the base of Mount Bromo itself. Transfer to Surabaya Airport for your departure flight onward. (B)
