EAT – A Culinary Adventure of Thailand by Jacob Coblenz

Several years ago, award-winning director and producer Joel Coblenz and his 12 year-old son, Jacob, went on a culinary adventure with Explorient to produce this entertaining three-minute trailer for the Culinary Travel Show EAT. Using our Taste of Bangkok Culinary Tour as a starting point, our team worked closely alongside with Joel and young Jacob to craft a tailor-made itinerary that is not only fun and educational, but one that helped inspire this father-and-son duo to produce this fabulous clip that incorporates the amazing sights, sounds and tastes Thailand has to offer. [vimeo 2022843 w=500 h=281] Video was posted on Vimeo and available at http://vimeo.com/2022843   When it comes to food, fun and warm friendly people, very few places on the planet can rival Thailand. Here are just a few of the exciting sights and activities we included in Joel and Jacob’s program (as seen on the trailer). Of course, the mouth-watering street foods, heart-warming Thai hospitality and memorable chance encounters at every turn brought their unforgettable travel experience yet to a whole new level.

  • Private sightseeing of Bangkok’s revered landmarks including the Royal Grand Palace, Wat Trimit (Golden Buddha), Wat Pho (Reclining Buddha), plus an exhilarating longtail boat trip on the Chao Phraya (River of Kings)
  • Day trip to a local Floating Market (Amphawa) where for centuries, local villagers buy, sell and barter their agricultural goods. Afterwards, Jacob visited a local coconut plantation to observe and learn how each part of the plant is used for food products, household items and construction.
  • Private Thai Cooking Lesson conducted by the executive chef at Landmark Hotel’s award winning Nipa Restaurant
  • A full day of Thai cooking lesson at the beautiful Thai House Cooking School. The program included a boat trip along the “Klongs” (canals) and a local market visit to buy fresh ingredients for the day’s dishes.
  • A visit to the Muay Thai Institute including a 2 hour private training session with a professional Muay Thai Kick Boxing figher and instructor. Later that evening, Joel and Jacob got to experience several Thai Kick Boxing matches at Rangsit Stadium with ringside seats.
