After a few days in the big city, it’s time to venture out to Beijing’s countryside and get acquainted with China’s magnificent Great Wall. Visit two of the Wall’s most beautiful sections – Mutianyu & Simitai. Here, relish this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to climb this awe-inspiring masterpiece amid picturesque panorama. As night falls, spend your evening in the charming Gubei water village nestled at the base of Simatai and tastefully complemented by an ancient Ming Dynasty setting of quaint cobbled alleyways, tranquil streams and colorful shophouses.
Next, continue to majestic Guilin, a land of stunning landscape and timeless culture many find seemingly surreal. Here, embark on a breathtaking river cruise along the famed Li River. Enjoy simple pleasures by taking a bike ride around Yangshuo’s picturesque countryside, roaming through local villages amid lush rice paddies and water buffaloes. Reward yourself with mesmerizing views upon reaching Moon Hill’s summit on a 800-step climb. Discover the charm of the artisan village of Yangshuo along West Street. Day 1 Depart North America
Depart USA for Beijing via Cathay Pacific Airways, connecting in Hong Kong.
Day 2 Arrive Beijing
Upon arrival and after clearing customs, be met and transferred to your hotel.
Day 3 Beijing
Today, enjoy sightseeing of several of Beijing’s most revered sites including the Forbidden City, Tianamen Square & Temple of Heaven. Lunch is served at a local restaurant. This evening, enjoy a Peking Duck Dinner followed by a Legends of Kung Fu Show. (B,L,D)
Day 4 Beijing
Today’s program features a visit to the Summer Palace and Beijing’ Old Quarters (Hutongs). Afternoon free at leisure to shop, relax and explore Beijing on your own. (B)
Day 5 Beijing / Great Wall at Jinshanling / Gubei Town
This morning, travel beyond the hustle and bustle of Beijing to the tranquil mountainous region of Hubei. Ascend to the Jinshanling Section of the Great Wall, built during the Ming Dynasty (1,368-1,644 A.D.) and embark on a active and scenic journey atop this section of the wall boasting panoramic views of the countryside. This section of the wall is mostly restored for a easy to moderate hike spanning 10.5 km and 67 watch towers In the afternoon, check-in to your resort in Gubei Town and enjoy the balance of the day at leisure to relax and enjoy the quaint and festive Gubei Water Village. Day 6 Gubei Town (Great Wall at Simatai)
This morning, enjoy a hike of Simatai Section of the Great Wall, located just a short walk from Gubei Town. Unlike other sections of the Wall, restoration of Simatai only included essential reinforcement work which rewards the visitor with a glimpse of the wall in its original form with several steep and narrow sections over its 10 watch towers open to the public. Afterwards, return back to Gubei town for some time at leisure to relax and soak up its tranquil atmosphere. (B)
Day 7 Gubei Town / Guilin
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Guilin. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel where dinner will be served. This evening, enjoy a Comorant Fishing excursion (conditions permitting) or a cruise on Four Lakes. (B,D)
Day 8 Guilin
This morning, enjoy a full day of sightseeing in the beautiful city of Guilin. Visits include Elephant Trunk Hill, Reed Flute Cave and Fubo Hill. (B,L)
Day 9 Li River Cruise / Yangshuo
Today’s tour takes you on a cruise down the majestic Li River to the charming, western-inspired artisan village of Yangshuo. Upon arrival, enjoy a leisurely bike ride, passing through local farms and villages, in and around Yangshuo’s magical countryside, plus an opportunity to hike Moon Hill which boasts panoramic views of the area’s spectacular landscape. An enchanting evening awaits in the bustling little village of Yangshuo. (B,L)
Day 10 Guilin / Shanghai
Morning at leisure to relax and explore Yangshuo on your own. Transfer to the airport for your afternoon flight to Shanghai. Upon arrival, be met and transferred to your hotel for your next 3 nights’ accommodations. (B)
Day 11 Shanghai
Full day city sightseeing of Shanghai features the Old Town and its Yu Garden, Jade Buddha Temple, the Bund, Shanghai Museum and the art district of Tianzifang famed for its Old Shanghai Shikumen houses. Enjoy a Western Lunch at one of Shanghai’s exclusive restaurants located on the Bund. This evening, enjoy a breathtaking Shanghai Acrobatics Performance. (B,L)
Day 12 Shanghai
Full day free at leisure to eat, shop and explore vibrant Shanghai on your own. (B)
Day 13 Return Home
Transfer to the airport for your departure flight home, connecting in Hong Kong. Arrive home the same day. (B)
