Renowned for its vivacious energy and arguably the planet’s most modern metropolis, Tokyo is an absolute sensory overload for first-time and frequent visitors alike. It boasts an electrifying cityscape of contrasts, between the old and the new, the traditional and the modern. Tokyo is unlike anywhere else in the world. With your private guide as your co-pilot, we explore Tokyo’s fantastic sights via its vast transportation system, which boasts an experience in and of itself. Visit the world-famous Tsukiji Market, the site of the former fish market lined with street food stands and sushi stalls and featuring the day’s freshest catch; Sensoji Temple and its colorful Nakamise shopping street; and the Sacred Meiji Shrine, plus a night out to sample some delicious eats popular amongst Tokyoites.
No visit to Japan is complete without feasting your eyes on the legendary Mount Fuji. Embarking on a scenic adventure to Hakone, we ascend on the Hakone Ropeway, which rewards the visitor with spectacular views of Fuji San; take a boat cruise on Lake Ashi; and enjoy Owakudani Valley’s lush beautiful countryside of rolling hills and green tea plantations. We cap off the day with an exhilarating ride on a speeding Bullet Train, traveling in excess of 180mph that zooms you back to Tokyo in just 30 minutes!
From ultra-modern skyscrapers to ancient temples and shrines; colorful shopping arcades to lush tranquil countrysides; Kawagoe’s cobbled streets to Harajuku’s eclectic nightlife, this trip has it all. Come and define your own version of Japan.

Visit Meiji Shrine, a shrine dedicated to the deified spirit of Emperor Meiji and a popular place for traditional Japanese weddings. Continue to Tsukiji Market, formerly the world’s largest fish market that is now a vibrant local market lined with street food stands, seafood, produce vendors and sushi stalls. Last and certainly not least, visit Sensoji, Tokyo’s oldest temple, and wander down Nakamise, a shopping street that has been providing temple visitors with a variety of traditional, local snacks and tourist souvenirs for centuries. Last stop of the day is Ueno famed for its Ueno Park comprised temples & shrines, museums, and a zoo. Afterwards, take a stroll through nearby Ameya-Yokocho market that boasts an array of local eats and fresh seafood stands. Return to your hotel. (B)
**Alternatively, we can arrange a visit to the Teamlab Planets Digital Art Museum in place of Ueno.
Day 3 Tokyo (Kawagoe)
Today, travel back in time on an excursion to Kawagoe, a small town famous for producing Soy Sauce and Japanese Candy. Enjoy sightseeing of Tokino Kane (Bell Tower), Matsuri Festival Museum, Kashiya Yokocho (Japanese Traditional Candy District), Matsumoto Soy Sauce House and Kitain Temple.
Later this afternoon, we’ll head to Yurakucho and mix with the “salarymen” (office workers) who relax with a beer and a grilled chicken skewer (“yakitori”) in the so-called yakitori alley. You will enjoy two yakitori of your liking and a drink in a typical yakitori establishment. Afterwards, your guide can drop you off at an izakaya (Japanese pub) in central Tokyo. (B,D)
