A heritage Tour of Central & Northern Thailand – Bangkok, Sukhothai, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Golden Triangle

Day 1. Arrive Bangkok
Upon arrival, be met and transferred to your hotel in Bangkok.

Day 2. Bangkok
A morning tour of the Royal Grand Palace and its Temple of the Emerald Buddha, Wat Pho (Reclining Buddha) and Wat Trimit (Golden Buddha). Afternoon at leisure. (B)

Day 3. Bangkok
Breakfast at the hotel. Today’s tour takes you to the world renowned Floating Market where for over a hundred years, villagers transport their agricultural products by canals to the center of trading at Damnoen Saduak. This incredible network is a labyrinth of almost two hundreds branched canals lined with ancient Thai wooden houses and colorfully decorated by small wooden boats that contain fresh fruits and vegetables. Return to Bangkok in the afternoon and enjoy the balance of the day at leisure. (B)

Day 4. Bangkok /  Sukhothai
Fly to Sukhothai. Upon arrival, commence sightseeing of Sukhothai Historical Park that comprises of ruins of royal palaces, temples, city walls of ancient Sukhothai, the capital of the Sukhothai kingdom from the 14th century. Overnight at Sukhothai Heritage Hotel. (B)

Day 5. Sukhothai / Chiang Mai
This morning, travel north to Chiang Mai by road, visiting Srisatchanalai and Lampang en-route. Lunch is served at a local restaurant. Upon arrival in Chiang Mai, check-in at your resort and enjoy the balance of the afternoon at leisure. (B,L)

Day 6. Chiang Mai (Elephant Experience)
Today, enjoy a memorable, once-in-a-lifetime experience with your choice of elephant Experience at Elephant Jungle Sanctuary featuring a morning elephant care program where you’ll have a chance to look after these gentle giants. This afternoon, take a stroll through Chiang Mai town visiting local markets and temples. Continue to Wat Phra Doi Suthep for sunset with a bird’s-eye-view over Chiang Mai City.(B,L)

Day 7. Chiang Mai / Chiang Rai
Travel northbound by road to Chiang Rai and the Golden Triangle. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat trip on Mae Kok River by long-tailed boat to visit local Karen Hilltribe Village. Check-in at your resort in Chiang Rai for your next 2 nights’ accommodations. (B,L)

Day 8. Chiang Rai (Golden Triangle / Myanmar Border Crossing)
Today’s full day tour features to famous Golden Triangle that borders Thailand, Laos and Myanmar. Enjoy a boat ride along the Mighty Mekong to get a close up look at where the three countries meet. Then, cross into a Myanmar border town to catch a glimpse the Burmese life. Visit local temples and enjoy a stroll through its bustling market before crossing back to Thailand. Return to your resort in the afternoon. Includes lunch at a local restaurant. (B,L)

Day 9. Depart Chiang Rai
Transfer to the airport for your departure flight onward. (B)
